Armed robbers kill one, injures several in Lagos....SEE PHOTO

Firstclass newsline has learnt that one person has been shot dead,
while six others sustained injuries when gun-wielding robbers invaded
the Railway line in the Ijora Badia area of the state.
Firstclass newsline learnt that the gunmen, reportedly numbering 10,
stormed the area and shot sporadically at about 9pm on Thursday.
The victims were identified asDangrugu, who was shot in the head, and
one Alhaji, who was shot in the eye.
Firstclass newsline learnt that the gunmen also entered some shanties
in the area, and dispossessed the dwellers of money and phones.
It was learnt that policemen from the Ijora Badia division, who
received a distress call, arrived at the scene after the robbers had
left.
Apart from the Railway area, the gunmen reportedly laid siege to
Obanle, Oniyanrin, and Aliwo streets where they damaged vehicles and
looted shops.
When firstclass newsline. visited the area on Monday, one of the
injured residents, who gave his name as Sanni Umar, said the hoodlums
asked him for money and when he could not meet their demand, they cut
him in the head with a cutlass.
He said, "I was relaxing in front of my apartment. The gunshots rented
the air for several minutes. As I made to enter my apartment, two of
them blocked me and asked for money.
"I told them I did not have any money. He cut me in the head with a
cutlass. Other people were hit by bullets. None of the robbers was
arrested by the police."
Another resident, who gave his name as Babatunde, identified the
gunmen asGiwa Boys, who he said, were led by one Wuraola, and often
engaged in supremacy battles.
He said, "From the Railway line to Gaskiya College area, they can
burst into any street and shoot at residents. On Thursday, three
people were shot, while two were hacked. A man was shot in the eye.
"They carted away people's gold and jewellery. When we called the
police, they responded but the hoodlums had escaped. As of Sunday, one
of those rushed to the hospital had died."
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu,
confirmed the incident, but added that the police did not have any
record of death.
He said, "We are on the trail of the hoodlums. Investigations are also
ongoing. We do not have any record of death."
