A Master Piece.....SHOULD I TELL?.........A MUST READ

I can never forget that night; I was sixteen and had just concluded my
JAMB exams. I was done with secondary school and was at home waiting
for my university admission to click.
It was a lonely and boring season for me as my younger siblings and my
parents would leave for school and work and I would be the only one
left at home.

I kept myself busy reading magazines, novels and occasionally watching
movies and TV when there was power supply. But all these after a while
didn't fascinate me that much. I would also engage in domestic work
and do a lot of chores at home just to keep myself busy but that too
after a while became tiring. I would visit my best friend and she
would also return the visit the next day or two days later and we
would together talk excitedly about our dreams of becoming
undergraduates and all we intend to do on campus, but after a while
the same old gist and dreams became stale and we began to lack
something to talk about and we gradually gave each other space.

Afterwards I became very bored. I was idle and had nothing doing. One
bright Tuesday morning around 10am, I decided to take a walk around
our estate. There was no power hence I couldn't watch TV and
everywhere in the house and the estate was quiet and still. Power had
also run out on my phone so I couldn't call, chat or engage my social
media platforms. I was bored stiff.

As I was walking along our street in the very quiet estate as many
people had left home for work or school, some distance behind me I
heard footsteps crushing dry, fallen leaves against the hard concrete
pavement by the tarred road.

By the way the footfalls sounded, I knew it was a man walking, but I
didn't look back to check who it was, I just kept walking slowly and
casually knowing with my pace, the man; whoever he was would soon
catch up with me. When eventually he did, it was Ugo. Ugo lives in the
estate also, a couple of streets away from my street.

We were childhood friends, we attended the same primary school but
afterwards he travelled to the UK to continue with his studies, he was
home for the summer holidays and I was just seeing him after a week of
his return. I was excited; I hugged him, he was glad to see me too. He
had really changed; taller, finer, smoother, cooler, and manly. He
spoke with this tint of English accent that I think was sexy and
crème. I really admired him.

We began to take the walk together and we began to chat excitedly; he
told me he would be around for another three weeks and I was so
excited I'd at least have company and someone to keep me company for
another three weeks. We took a very long walk and talked about so many
things and many people. We talked about all our friends; what they are
doing and where they were at. It was an exciting experience for me.

But further than that was Ugo himself, he was seventeen but sounded
twenty five in his opinion and concepts about life, career,
friendships and relationships, he was really mature and his views not
only impressed me, they educated me, Ugo, I found very exciting and
someone I'd definitely want to date.

After two hours I went home to make lunch for my younger ones who
would soon return from school and Ugo had to go out, so he walked me
to my house and went on ahead to his. I was thrilled, excited and
happy, I sensed he liked me because of the funny way he kept looking
at me and the compliments he paid me.

All that evening I was so excited and happy, I couldn't keep it down,
I had butterflies in my tummy, the experience that afternoon was
ecstatic, I kept thinking of Ugo, he was so amazing, I kept thinking
about him; I wanted to stop but couldn't. Barely 30 minutes after he
left I called him, just to check up on him; he chuckled and said he
was okay. Then we began to chat on BB and all evening through the
night we kept chatting. I didn't need a soothsayer to affirm the fact
I was falling in love.

Two days afterwards, Ugo decided to visit me at home. He arrived
around 11am and we saw a Tyler Perry movie together. I made him lunch
and while he was eating, unexpectedly my daddy came home. It was a
rare occurrence; I couldn't remember the last time my daddy came home
during work hours, he was not the type, once he leaves for the office,
till earliest, 7pm. I was surprised.

My daddy came into the house and saw Ugo, I introduced him after
welcoming my dad, and my dad gave me a very unusual and dangerous
look, he didn't respond or acknowledge Ugo's greeting, he eyed me too
and just went up straight to his bedroom. I was so embarrassed, I
wondered why he behaved that way, in less than a minute my daddy
returned downstairs with his old, tough skin belt, he bolted the front
door and put the key in his pocket, suddenly he turned and confronted
Ugo, 'so you want to destroy my daughter's life abi? What are you
doing in my house at this time when no one is around, so you want to
take advantage of her?' I was so ashamed and embarrassed as I observed
a now very scared and embarrassed Ugo, 'daddy, he is my friend, he
lives in the estate' I began to say, 'you shut up, shameless girl' I
was so mad and scared and as Ugo made to get up from his seat my dad
attacked him with this belt and began to flog him all over.

Ugo began to beg and explain but my dad wouldn't listen but kept
flogging him, Ugo then began to run around the sitting room and the
dinning and my father kept following him and flogging him. I suddenly
ran towards my dad and held his hand and he began to flog me too, I
then shouted to Ugo to run to the kitchen and escape through the
kitchen door and he did exactly that and escaped, my dad then
concentrated on me and flogged me thoroughly.

Six months after, I had secured admission into school, I was a jambite
and just learning the ropes and trying to find my footing on campus. I
was thinking through the best approach to maximum fun and work. I had
been caged all my life and now that I have the opportunity I must
enjoy my freedom to the fullest.

It was a Friday evening, I was in my room with my room-mates when a
friend to one of my room-mates who was in her fourth year came to our
room. She was a very exciting, charismatic and friendly lady. She was
quite open and blunt too and she began to tell us stories about her
various escapades with different men and how she's made so much money
from different men.

Then she kept talking about this latest catch that has been so
generous and caring. She talked about how he's shopped for her on
several occasions and how he's travelled with her twice to Dubai
within six weeks. Her excitement was his plans to buy her a car by her
next birthday a couple of weeks away. Though he is a much older man
she said, he is very caring, energetic when necessary and absolutely
generous.

She then went ahead to show us photographs they took together in Dubai
and when I saw the pictures I experienced the greatest shock of my
life; the man was my father.

I am very disappointed and pained. My father is very strict; he puts
up this religious appearance and would bring down hell over any matter
that has to do with a male friend or friendship with the opposite sex,
He would talk and preach and preach on why we should avoid boys. Now
he is befriending a girl he's old enough to be her father; a girl just
3 years older than I am!
I am upset, very upset, should I expose him, tell my mum and younger
ones, should I confront him or just overlook it, I am upset.
