Firstclass Newsline gathered that no fewer than 37 military personnel
escaped death at Gaya 65km south of Kano Friday morning when their
convoy crashed into a ditch.
Eyewitness, Sule Adamu told Firstclass Newsline that the incident
occured along Gaya–Jahun federal highway at about 7.30 am when the
convoy tried to make a u-turn when they realised they had missed
their way.
Adamu said that "at the moment most of them are in critical
conditions at Gaya General hospital, and there are visible cases of
fractures among the wounded personnel".
The eyewitness stated that from all indications, they were travelling
to Maiduguri when they missed their road at Gaya- Dutse federal
highway.
Confirming the incident, Captain Eze of 3rd Motorised Brigade, Kano,
while confirming the incident said "I would furnish you with details,
as soon as it is available."
