A lady accused of helping another person to commit suicide arrested

The first ever trial in the State of a person accused of assisting the
suicide of another person gets underway later today.
Gail O'Rorke is accused of aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring
the suicide of another woman in Dublin four years ago
O'Rorke, from Kilclare Gardens in Tallaght, is the first person in the
State to be charged with the offence which carries a sentence upon
conviction of up to fourteen years in jail.
She is charged under Section 2 (2) of the Criminal Law (Suicide) Act
1993 of assisting the suicide of Bernadette Forde between March 2011
and 6 June 2011.
The case was last heard in court almost a year ago after a lengthy
period of discovery.
The trial is set to begin this morning at Dublin Circuit Criminal
Court where it will be heard for up to two weeks.
