CAN Celebrates with Muslims, Calls for Peace

As Nigerian Muslims celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir feast, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN ) friday joined Muslims to celebrate with them, calling on all Nigerians to embrace peace.
In a statement in Abuja, and signed by the CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, he said "the entire Nigerian Christian community and I wish to felicitate with the leadership of the Muslim community in Nigeria and all faithful on the occasion of the 2014 Eid-el kabir celebrations.
"Occasions like this call for sober reflection and submission to the will of the almighty in the life of a nation its citizens," he stated.
Oritsejafor explained that "this auspicious occasion should remind faithful and indeed all Nigerians of the need to get closer to God in all aspects of our nation's life.
"No doubt our nation is going through trying times; the harsh economic condition, the menace of Boko Haram, the recent Ebola pandemic and others, are manifestations of the harsh realities facing Nigerians.
"I urge all faithful to use the occasion of the sallah celebrations to pray for our country and its leadership for no amount of prayer can be said to be too much for our nation".
Speaking on the need for peace, the CAN president said: "I call on Nigerians to remain peaceful, pursue peace, love and understanding in the quest for a new Nigeria .
"Once again, I congratulate our Muslim brothers and wish them a happy eid-el KABIR celebrations and may God bless our country Nigeria.
