Women rally support for Jonathan’s second term
WOMEN in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the aegis of
Coalition 2015, have held a rally to garner support for President
Goodluck Jonathan, urging him to contest for the presidency next year.
The event which held at the PDP secretariat in Ado Ekiti, at the
weekend, saw a gathering of PDP women from the South-West, to galvanise
support for President Jonathan, and also to charge the womenfolk in the
state, to support the PDP in the coming general election.
Addressing the women on the occasion, the South-West Women Leader of the
group, Bolajoko Oriire Olapeju, said the efforts of President Jonathan
since he assumed office in 2010 “as the President of this great country
has gone to prove that he eminently deserves a second term of office and
he deserves our support.”
She described
Coalition 2015 as “a pressure group driven by the desire to join the
teeming groups to support the reelection of President Jonathan in flying
PDP’s flag in the 2015 general election.”
According to her,
“the good works of the president is felt all over the country in spite
of the activities of the enemies of progress,” and added that the group
was in Ekiti to “enlist your support in this crusade so as to ensure
victory for our president and our great party.”
Also speaking
on the occasion, the Ekiti State Women Leader of the group, Chief (Mrs.)
Modupe Orubuloye, said the women had gathered from the 16 local
government areas of the state, for the launch of the group, saying they
were “resolute in their support for another term for President Goodluck
Ebele Jonathan.”
She said the group’s activities cut across
party lines because “President Jonathan’s good works cut across party
lines and has impacted positively on all and sundry.”
She said
“women must not be deceived and they must not allow themselves to be
deceived because the president has done very well for Nigerians and
especially the Nigerian women.”
