A YOUNG woman beat her drunken boyfriend while
preachers were conducting a church sermon nearby in zone 26 in Langa,
Cape Town on thursday.
Preachers from Lukhanyo Seventh Day Adventist Church left their sermon and tried unsuccessfully to stop the fighting couple.
Church elder Mziwebandla Adonis told our source: “I tried to separate
them but the woman was so angry that she refused to stop beating the
man.”
The incident had shamed him and other church elders, he said.
“It’s a disgrace to fight near a religious gathering. Some young people have no respect for anything,” said Mziwebandla.
The woman, who was bleeding from the mouth, pinned her boyfriend down
and hit him with her fists until he bled too. Then she pulled a boot from
his foot and beat him with it.
The woman is only known in the township as Sisana and the man as Bhutana.
Spectators who listened to the sermon earlier on, crowded around the couple and enjoyed watching the undignified spectacle.
Phumza Dumisa (33) said she tried to split up the partners who clung stubbornly to each other as they exchanged blows.
Phumza said: “I poured cold water over Sisana to distract her but she paid no attention and continued beating Bhutana.
She said she was looking for their young kid who had disappeared.
“He first smacked her in the face. She fought back and punched him
until he fell down and bled. He started the fight. He was wrong to klap
her in front of church people.”
Bhutana eventually surrendered and stumbled back home, with his upper body and one foot bare and his face bloodied.
Our source was not able to talk to Sisana or Bhutana before they disappeared.
