Fenerbahce fires Yobo
Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo is officially club-less as
Turkish side Fenerbahce announced on Friday that they have parted ways
with the Nigerian defender.
In a statement on Fenerbahce’s
official website, the club explained that they had to part way with Yobo
since they have exceeded their quota of foreign players as allowed by
the country’s football federation.
Aside getting his monetary entitlements, Fenerbahce promised to give
Yobo a plague of appreciation for his contribution during his four-year
sojourn with the Yellow and Blacks.
“Thank you for the
contribution you have made, we wish you success in your future club
career,” part of the statement on Fenerbahce’s website read.
During his time with Fenerbahce, Yobo made an impressive 90 appearances in the topflight, scoring 3 goals.
For now it is not clear where Yobo will be heading to but there are
suggestions that the most-capped Nigeria player may be heading to the
Middle East to earn some petrol dollars.
