He used juju to keep me in purdah —Wife •She wants to move in with her lover —Husband

purdah-wife Mrs Aisat Kehinde has appealed to the Mapo Grade ‘C’ Customary Court, in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of Oyo State, to dissolve the five-year-old marriage between her and her husband, Abdulrahamoni Adedoyin due to a claim that he forced her into using the purday (veil) through diabolic means.

Aisat, who lives at Idikan, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, told the court that Abdulrahamoni maltreated her and forced her to wear the veil despite the fact that she was never a Muslim.

“I did not know when I started wearing the clothing. I found it on myself. He must have used diabolic means to control me.

“I’m not a Muslim and I’m no more interested in our marriage.

“Besides, he’s fond of beating me and he won’t stop until I start bleeding.

“Abdulrahamoni is not a responsible husband. He doesn’t cater for the needs of his children not to mention me.”

According to her, their marriage was blessed with two kids.

She pleaded with the court to grant her custody of their last child due to his tender age.

Responding, Abdulrahamoni refuted the allegations levelled against him by Aisat, saying he did not cast a spell on her.

He stated that Aisat started using the veil when they got married but added,”we had a mutual agreement that she would be wearing it.”

Abdulrahamoni who agreed to Aisat’s prayer said: “I am glad that she is leaving. She is too quarrelsome; she doesn’t even take to my instructions anymore.

“I saw a text message recently on her phone whereby a man directed her to move into his house as his wife.

“This did not go down well with me and thus prompted me to report her to her father, but she refused to change from her bad ways,” he said.

Abdulrahamoni further pleaded with the court to award custody of the first child to him.

The court president, Elder Ezekiel Ogundipe, observed that there was no longer love between the duo and thus dissolved the marriage. \

Ogundipe ordered that Abdulrahamon pay a monthly feeding allowance of N5,000 for the upkeep of their four-month-old baby, while he should produce the first child in court for physical assessment in the next adjourned date.
