South African Police Probes Two Nigerians And An Israeli Over $9.3million Cash
2 Nigerians and an Israeli citizen are being investigated for bringing
$9.3million in cash into the country illegally. It is suspected that the
money was brought in for arms. The Nigerians who were coming from Abuja
were not identified.
The customs officers became suspicious when the passengers Luggage’s were put into the
scanners and found money. Although the Nigerian passengers claim to be
buying the weapons on behalf of the Nigerian intelligence service and
also provided documentation, the Israeli citizens cant be said to be an
intelligence operator or an arm dealer.
SARS spokeswoman Marika
Muller said, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) seized the funds
at Lanseria airport, northwest of Johannesburg, on Sept. 5. The funds
are being held at the central bank as police investigate
