Lady, 23, sets lover ablaze in Ondo
A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Akure on Monday ordered a
23-year-old lady, Ajowele Busayo, to be remanded at the Olokuta prison
for allegedly setting her lover, Anthony David, ablaze.
The
Prosecutor, ASP Ayodele Atandeyi, told the court that the accused
committed the offence on July 14 at about 9.00 a.m. at Liberty Street,
Basiri Area of Akure.
The accused is a teacher in a private primary school where the children of the victim were pupils.
Atandeyi said the 44-year-old victim was rushed to a nearby hospital by neighbours before he later died.
The prosecutor said the offence was contrary to section 316 and
punishable under section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Vol.1, Laws
of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Atandeyi, who told the court that
he had three witnesses to testify in the case, applied for an
adjournment to enable him forward the case file to the Director of
Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The magistrate, Mrs
Charity Adeyanju, ordered that the accused be remanded at the Olokuta
prison pending the receipt of legal advice from the DPP.
Adeyanju adjourned the case till Nov. 1 for mention.(NAN)
