EBOLA:Mystry monkey terrorises Ekiti community

With the recent Ebola virus outbreak across West Africa, and with the fact that Monkey have been certified as reservoirs for the Virus. This has made Monkey an animal that instill fear in the minds of everyone. Little wonder that residents of the Federal housing Estate, Oke-Ile, in Ado Ekiti, are scared still over the sudden appearance of a Mysterious monkey in the area. The residents describe the monkey as having a light brown skin, was said to have find it’s way out from the home of its master, also a resident in the area, two weeks ago and began to terrorise everyone in the area.

With the fear on their faces, the residents said the Monkey was jumping fences, attacking women and children and also seizing fruits from hawkers in the area.

A resident whose name is Abiodun Ajayi, told newsmen that:

“It was about two weeks ago that a woman raised the alarm that she saw a monkey, coming out of a nearby bush around her house in the estate and because she isn’t a young woman, we believed her. Since then, we have been looking for the monkey.”



Mr Ajayi also said they had alerted the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, adding that the NSCDC officials could, however, kill or catch the beast when they visited

“Last Sunday, I invited officials of the Civil Defence Corps when I saw the monkey on a tree. But before it could be shot, it dived into a compound and vanished. It comes and goes anytime and anyhow.”
