The authorities of the West African Examinations Council on Friday,
gave the details of the candidates' performance in the November/
December 2015 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
The council, in a statement by its Public Affairs Officer, Mr.
Demianus Ojijeogu, said that only 67,713 out of the 237,154
candidates that sat for the examination obtained credits in five
subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
In other words, 169, 441 candidates representing 70.67 per cent
failed to obtain the minimum admission requirement to study in any
of the nation's universities.
To seek admission, a candidate must obtain credits in five subjects,
including English Language and Mathematics.
The statement read, "In the November/December 2015 WASSCE for
private candidates, a total of 67,713 candidates, representing 29.33
per cent obtained credits in five subjects and above, including
English Language and Mathematics."
