continued offensive operation to clear Boko Haram terrorists' enclave
around Kwatarha and Torikwaptir in Gwoza Local Government Area of
Borno State, has gunned down the terrorists' kingpin and arrested
another one.
The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman, in a
statement on Tuesday confirmed that the notorious Boko Haram terrorist
who had been wreaking havoc on the communities was gunned by the
troops of Operation Lafiya Dole on Monday afternoon.
Usman disclosed that during the operation, four other terrorists were
believed to escape with gunshot wounds, while AK-47 rifle was
recovered from fallen kinpin.
In a related development, he said troops of 3 Division have arrested a
suspected Boko Haram kingpin, Alhaji Tijjani Usman Damagum.
Usman said the suspect was tracked down and arrested at Damagum town,
Yobe State, on Tuesday.
According to the army spokesman,Damagum was a high profile Boko Haram
terrorist, who led other members of his group on various attacks
especially in Yobe State.
He added that "the suspect is currently undergoing interrogation with
a view to arraign him soon."
