commotion of joy and general acceptance followed. The indoor sports
hall of the University of Lagos Sports, Centre last weekend witnessed
a massive turnout of students, celebrities, beauty queens, others for
the glamourous Miss Unilag 2015.
A year has gone by since the last beauty queen was named for the
University of Lagos. Due to the controversy that surrounded the last
edition, the organiser, Sulcata, apparently put a number of things
into account, especially on the quality of contestants for the crown.
Physical appearance was only one of the criteria for this year's
competition as most contestants went out of their ways to inspire
guests and judges with passionate renditions, speeches, poetry
recitations, etc. The beauty queens put up a great show starting from
their choreography session, corporate, traditional and evening attire
catwalk, to interesting talent that certainly put the judges and
members of the audience in dire straits.
Miss Emeasoba Onyinye, a 200-level student of Marine Science was named
as the winner of the royal seat; Obidiebube Mmesoma and Ujiagbe
Jemimah were the first and second runners up respectively amidst loud
cheers from the crowd.
Artistes on stage that night included Lax, Ketchup, Byno, Tekno, Base
One, Que Peller and World's strongest man Bucci doing the almost
impossible by lifting a bag of rice with his teeth while extraordinary
medical student, Fola David stunned guest by painting a friend's face
in few minutes.
Larry Foreman was host for the event.
