Firstclass newsline learnt that Man 45 known as Ganiyu Ogungbemi, has
been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate's Court for allegedly
raping a 12 year-old-gir.
Firstclass newsline learnt that the suspect was said to have committed
the offence on March 17, 2015.
Ogungbemi allegedly sneaked into the residence of the girl's parents
in Ejigbo, Osun State, where he allegedly raped her.
The girl was said to have been left bleeding from the incident.
A police prosecutor, Mr. Merit Wilson, told the court that the suspect
assaulted the girl during the assault.
He told the court that the accused committed offences "contrary to and
punishable under sections 31 (c) (d) and 360 of the Criminal Code, Cap
34, Vol. II, Law of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003."
The accused pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and assault.
His counsel, Mr. Raji Abiodun, urged the presiding magistrate, Olusola
Aluko, to admit his client to bail in liberal terms.
Aluko granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties
in like sum.
He transferred the case to the Ejigbo Magistrate's Court and adjourned
the case till September 2, 2015.
