Seventh Senate ends, 123 bills passed

Firstclass newsline gathered that the Seventh Senate adjourned
indefinitely on Thursday after a valedictory session attended by
former leadership of the red chamber and the 107 outgoing senators.
The duo of Senators Ahmed Zannah (Borno North) and Uche Chukwumerije
(Abia South) died shortly before the end of the current legislative
year.
Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, in his speech, said the Seventh
Senate considered and passed 123 out of the 591 bills introduced to
the upper chamber in the last four years while the rest were in
different stages of legislative processes.
He said some of the bills passed, which had far reaching impact on
the polity, included Occupational Safety and Health Bill, Pensions
Reform Act amendment, Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill, among
others.
Mark, in his valedictory message, said he took full responsibility for
all the shortcomings recorded by the senate in the last four years.
