Firstclass newsline learnt that Hip hop star, Adeleke David, popularly
known as Davido, graduated from the Babcock University, Ilishan- Remo,
Ogun State, on Sunday.
He bagged a Bachelor of Arts Second Class Upper degree in Music.
He was one of the 1,416 graduating students who bagged various degrees
at the 13th edition of the institution's undergraduate convocation.
This had put to rest the controversy that the 'Aye' crooner had
dropped out of the institution.
His matriculation number is 11/3430, and he graduated from the
Department of Music and Creative Arts. He was the only candidate who
read the course as stated in the graduation brochure.
Fifty-five students bagged first class degrees in different
disciplines, while the rest got second class upper and lower degrees.
The outgoing President of the institution, Prof. Kayode Makinde, said
it was in tradition of the school not to award Third Class and Pass
degrees.
He said, "Those who cannot meet up with the established standard are
asked to withdraw."
Makinde said the institution had embarked on a number of partnership
and exchange programmes locally and globally in recent times. This
partnership, he noted, had started to yield positive results.
He said, "Two hundred of our students are currently in Poland. Some of
our medical students will soon be going to India for six months as
part of their medical training. We are currently discussing with the
Florida Hospital, because we have been to the United States to see
their facilities."
While he formally announced that he had served the institution for 10
years, he said he would be handing over to someone else to "further
carry the university to higher levels."
