Rape Case: ASP in prison for raping a student

Firstclass newsline learnt that the suspect was arrested after some
students of the college[Federal College of Education, Osiele,]
reported the matter at the Odeda Police Division. The case was
afterwards transferred to the state command headquarters, Eleweran,
Abeokuta.
Firstclass newsline gathered that on Thursday, April 30, policemen
from the Osiele post arrested Oluwaseun for her involvement in a mob
attack on a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps in the
college, identified only as Oladimeji.
The attack by students was reportedly carried out on the NYSC member
because he allegedly made sexual advances at a female student, who had
visited him in his apartment in the Abule Obantoko area of Abeokuta.
Firstclass newsline learnt that the ASP allegedly took over the case
and ordered Oluwaseun's detention.
It was gathered that at about 7pm on the same day, he was said to have
driven the victim to his house in the Alanco area where he allegedly
raped her.
A source at the FCE, Osiele, said Oluwaseun was "traumatised" to talk
about her ordeal until the Commissioner of Police summoned both
parties to a meeting.
He said, "After raping Oluwaseun in his house, Mafoya brought her
victim back to the police post at about 10.30pm, where he again raped
her in his office. He then returned her to the cell. It was the girl's
colleagues who raised N3,000 for her bail the following day.
"She, however, did not discuss her experience with anyone because she
was traumatised. The only thing she did was to cleverly record the
conversations she had with the police officer on her mobile phone.
Such matter would have died naturally, but it was a policeman at the
same police post who gave her the courage to speak up and expose the
ASP.
"They reported the rape at the Odeda Police Division and when the CP
learnt about it, he ordered a detailed investigation. This was what
brought Mafoya and Oluwaseun together again at the CP's instance.
"On Monday, May 11, the two persons were brought into the CP's office.
After their explanations, the CP ordered the arrest of the ASP, while
investigations continued on the matter."
Firstclass newsline learnt that Mafoya allegedly had an unresolved
petition of rape against him involving another student of the college.
The student, who was said to be in the Department of Economics and
Political Science, was allegedly raped by Mafoya last year.
The victim's father was said to have written a petition to the Ogun
State CP, in which he claimed that Mafoya allegedly hid his daughter
in his office and forcefully had a carnal knowledge of her.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the
allegation, adding that the police were still investigating the
matter.
He said, "The officer was not detained. There was an allegation of
such against him, and he was called to answer to it. The police are
still investigating the matter."
