For a 30 year old Erikan Israel Okon of Ibanang Ediene, Abak local
government area, Saturday, May 23, 2015 was like any other day. He
never had premonition that danger was lurking around for him until he
had an encounter with a 25 years old woman and single mother of one
identified as Abigail Akpan Akpan.
A source had learnt that Erikan had on the fateful day gone to phone
shop to charge his phone was said to have latter where the phone got
missing. It was alleged to been traced to Abigail who had earlier
denied it. This led to fight which prompted the wicked evil woman and
the family members to dragged Erikan by his manhood till it pulled.
Sensing that he will not survive, Abigail hurriedly left for her
father's house, picked few of her belongings and fled. However, a
source said the victim and the wicked woman were lovers and hot
arguments led to the pulling of the manhood.
Her parents who envisaged the implication of their daughter's action,
equally packed their belongings hid some in a bush and took to their
heels.
It was learnt that when Erikan finally died on Sunday in an
undisclosed hospital he was rushed to, youths of the community took
laws into their hands and set ablaze the Abigail's family house.
When our correspondent visited the scene of the incident along Abak-
Uyo road, he spotted some youths bringing out household items
recovered from the bush and put them inside the raging inferno while
others were busy pouring petrol on what remained of the entire
building without any challenge from security agencies.
Hundreds of sympathizers who had gathered at the scene of the
incident, condemned the action of the wicked woman. They equally
condemned action of the youths whom they said were revenging death of
one of their own.
An indigene of the community who did not want his name in the print
described the incident that led to Erikan's death and the subsequent
burning of the houses as 'shameful'.
