Motors, a private transport company on Akpakpava Road, in Benin, the Edo State capital, leaving the driver injured.
An eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the driver, who was on his way to Enugu, lost control of the vehicle marked, UWN 709 YN, due to brake failure.
Firstclass Newsline gathered that as the driver tried to avoid a barricaded road under construction, he drove the vehicle into the premises of the transport company and crashed into a bus parked on the premises at about 4.30am.
The driver of the vehicle was said to have been rushed to an undisclosed hospital following a knee injury he sustained in the accident.
The remains of about 200 birds, valued at N170, 000, littered the scene when our correspondent visited.
The Manager of the bus terminal, Mr. Azeez Collins, said the accident happened because the driver was tired and was probably dozing while driving.
He appealed to the contractor handling the construction of the road to speed up work in order to avert a recurrence.
He said, “I think the driver was dozing while driving.
“Obviously, he did not notice the barricade on time.
“So, when he sighted the barricade on the road, he tried to avoid it and in the process rammed into one of our buses that was parked on the premises.”
