Suspected kidnappers die in gun shoot out battle with police

The Edo State Police Command on Monday said four suspected kidnappers
were killed after an exchange of gunfire between the suspects and the
officers of the command.
The command's spokesman, DSP Joseph Edoigiawerie, explained that the
suspected kidnappers died as a result of bullet injuries.
Edoigiawerie added that the kidnap attempt was the second failed
attempt that the suspected kidnappers would be organising.
The spokesman for the police said three of the deceased suspects where
shot during a foiled kidnap attempt on February 1.
He added that the gang was operating on Kojo Road, off Ikpoba Hill in
the state capital, and opened fire on sighting the security
operatives.

The other suspect was said to have also lost his life in a similar
circumstance, at the Benin/Auchi Bypass, while "the victim was rescued
unhurt."
"The command is using this medium to appeal and encourage members of
the public to inform the police of any one seen or found with bullet
injury," the police spokesman added.
