The Federal Government on Monday announced that 11 towns and communities in Adamawa State that had come under the control of Boko Haram have been liberated.
Coordinator of the National Information Centre on the war against terrorism, Mr. Mike Omeri, who made the announcement at a press conference in Abuja, also disclosed that seven other towns remained under the control of the Islamic terrorist group in the state.

Omeri confirmed that fierce attacks by Boko Haram to claim Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, were successfully repelled by Nigerian security forces working in alliance with troops from neighbouring countries.
He said, “The situation in Adamawa State shows that Hong, Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Michika, Shuwa, Wuro Gyambi, Gombi, Vimtim, Uba and Bazza areas have been liberated from Boko Haram, while Madagali, Gulak, Wagga-Mildo, Shelini/Vapra, Sabon-gari and Gubia are still under Boko Haram’s presence.
“Other areas such as Kirchinga, Pallam and Mayo-wandu have remained calm and peaceful. Equally in Yobe State, government troops have recaptured parts of Gujba and Gulani which had witnessed Boko Haram presence.”
On Maiduguri, the government spokesman said, “In the last couple of days, the effort of the Nigerian military in checking insurgency in the North Eastern states of the country has continued to yield tremendous results.
Omeri attributed the success of the military in the operations to the procurement of more arms by the Federal Government through government-to-government negotiations.
