At least one person has died and property estimated at millions of
naira lost in multiple fire incidents that ravaged Lagos state on
Monday.
At the Oko Baba in the Ebute Meta area, a 25 year old man was said to
have been burnt to death as many shanties and structures were
destroyed in a midnight fire.
On the Lagos Island, traders in the Balogun Market have continued to
bemoan the loss of goods said to be worth millions of naira.
The cause of the fire, which started around 4am had yet to be known.
As of 1pm, the fire is still burning in one of the buildings as rescue
agencies from the federal, state and local governments are battling
with it.
A bank was also affected.
The Lagos State Fire Service said other firefighting operations are on
in the Igando and Ojo areas of the state.
