Terrorists Kill 17, Abduct 30 Youths In Borno
fewer than 17 people have been confirmed killed by suspected Boko Haram
terrorists in Ndongo village of Maffa Local Government Area of Borno
State, North-East Nigeria.
The Chairman of Mafa Local Government
Area, Shettima Maina, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Sunday in
Maiduguri, said, “Seventeen persons were killed by the attackers after
last Thursday’s attack on Ndongo community and the bodies of the victims were buried yesterday in Mafa.”
He revealed said that the sect members also raided villages in Maffa
Local Government with the abduction of 30 boys and girls from the ages
of 13 and above, adding that the terrorists equally abduct girls from
the ages of 11 and take them to their unknown base.
“Based on
information available to us, about 30 youths have been abducted in the
last couple of days. Once they raid a community, they abduct boys from
the age of 13 and above,” the Chairman said.
He appealed to the Federal Government to come to the aid of the community.
“These insurgents are unleashing terror on daily bases in the various
communities in our Local Government and beyond and we call on the
Federal Government to help save our lives from these merciless rebels.”
A resident of Maffa, who confirmed the killings and abduction to
newsmen in Maiduguri, also said that the dreaded sect members went away
with many cows belonging to the people of the area.
Abduction by the
insurgents has become very common. It is believed that they have
resorted to this act in order to fortify their military strength.
