Police Orderly, Four Others Gang Rape 17-year-old Girl in Kano

The police orderly attached to the Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State and four others have been arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.
The police corporal, an indigene of Shanono Local Government Area of the state and whose name has not been disclosed, was said to have conspired with four other persons in carrying out the shameful act at an undisclosed location in Shanono town.
Reliable sources, who informed reporters yesterday about the incident, revealed that the suspected police officer had been apprehended and kept behind bars pending the outcome of internal investigations.
“A police corporal has been arrested and taken to the state Criminal Investigation Department for investigation over the complaint that he and two others gang-raped a lady,” the source revealed.
“It is believed that the lady was threatened. You know orderlies that are attached to VIPs are normally armed. So as I speak with you, a police corporal and four other suspects have been detained for raping a lady in Shanono local government and the police officer is the orderly to the Local Government chairman,” he said.
The source added: “It was a gang rape. The case is with the police authorities. They are handling the matter, and we know that the suspects have been detained. We are waiting to know what would come up next.”
The Police Command in Kano confirmed the incident yesterday through its acting spokesman, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mustapha Abubakar, who said an investigation was ongoing added that the suspects would be taken to court after the investigation.
