Former Kano State Deputy Governor Dies
A former Kano State Deputy Governor in the Second Republic, Alhaji Bibi Farouk, has died at the age of 85.
He was the deputy governor to the late Governor Abubakar Rimi between
1979 to 1981 and was replaced by the late Alhaji Audu Dawakin Tofa as
deputy governor.
The late deputy governor, who is from Gezawa Local Government Area of the state, was a former sole administrator of the old Kano municipal council during the administration of the late Governor Audu Bako.
He was the controversial deputy governor who was impeached because of
his loyalty to the late Mallam Aminu Kano after Rimi parted way with
Aminu Kano. Farouk served as the deputy governor on the platform of
defunct Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) before he was impeached in 1981.
He died in Kano after a protracted illness and was buried according to Islamic rites.
