10 Nigerian Pilgrims Confirmed Dead in Mecca
About 10 Nigerians performing this year’s hajj rites in Saudi Arabia have been confirmed dead.
According to the Coordinator of the National Hajj Commission in Mecca,
Aliyu Tanko, the 10 are out of at least 50,000 Nigerian who have so far
arrived Mecca with virtually all of them having performed the Umrah
rites.
He advised the pilgrims to always seek medical
advice before embarking on pilgrimage, even as he warned them against
exposing themselves to the harsh weather condition in the Holy Land.
Tanko said the commission’s three clinics in Mecca and those set up by
the various state pilgrims boards provided effective medical services to
Nigerian pilgrims in Mecca.
