LIBERIA APOLOGISES TO NIGERIA OVER EBOLA
Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has expressed regret over
the importation of the deadly Ebola virus by her national, late Patrick
Sawyer, to Nigeria.
Johnson-Sirleaf described as unfortunate the embarrassment and health
challenges the incident had caused the Federal Government and Nigerians.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nurudeen Mohammed, who
hinted of Johnson-Sirleaf’s concern yesterday in Abuja, said she was
worried over the spread of the disease in the country.
According to the minister, Johnson-Sirleaf had told the Federal
Government that the late Sawyer was placed on surveillance when he
sneaked out of Liberia through ASky Airline into Nigeria.
Mohammed spoke alongside Health Minister, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu at the
briefing of the international community on Ebola disease in Nigeria.
