Jonathan commended for not abandoning Yar’Adua’s projects
President Goodluck Jonathan has been commended for not deviating
significantly from the policies of his predecessor, late Musa Yar’Adua,
in his seven-point agenda.
A group, Joint Governance Vanguard (JGV), which comprises entrepreneurs,
professionals, rights activists and members of the Diaspora which made
the commendation in Abuja, observed that the president, rather, improved
on them with what he described as practical proofs cutting across all
the sectors of the economy.
The coordinator of the group, Mr
Emem Coffie, who spoke with Abuja Xtra, noted that Jonathan deserved
commendation for recording tremendous achievements in the midst of
insurgency and distractions.
Disclosing that his group was
committed to re-engineering a new era of policy consistency as well as
creation of platform for developing and harnessing the potentials of the
citizens, he urged the president to inaugurate conference of
professionals, which would assist in charting a 30-year policy direction
for the country in line with the Vision 20 20-20 and the transformation
agenda.
Coffie noted that the move would ensure seamless
articulation of policies that would engender development, economic
growth and well-being for the country and its citizens and made a case
for the proposed team to include industry giants, technocrats and
foreign financial experts.
The coordinator wondered if the
groups assembled by previous governments were able to adequately involve
the private sector in policy formulation.
