I feel blessed with my achievements – Okagbare
Africa’s fastest woman Blessing Okagbare has said she feels blessed
with her achievements at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow,
Scotland.
Okagbare won three medals; two gold and a silver, at the games which ended on Sunday.
She ran a new Games Record of 10.85 seconds in the women’s 100 metres
to win her first gold medal before powering to a 22.25 seconds in the
200 metres to earn her second gold and also running 3:24.71 seconds in
the 4x100m relay race to get the silver behind the Jamaican women’s
team.
Okagbare wrote on her Facebook page, “Not a perfect pics
but, I want you guys to see it. Two gold and one silver… feeling
blessed.”
Although she could not compete in the long jump event
of the Games due to the clash of the event with her 200m race, Okagbare
said she did not regret opting out of the event to face the sprints.
“The schedule has already been done. You either go with it or you leave it,” the Commonwealth sprints queen told Supersport.
“It was not easy winning the races especially the 200m where you have
to run the races in a day. But because I wanted the gold, I had to go
for it and I don’t regret leaving the jump for it,” she added.
