Impeachment: House tenders 28 exhibits against Nyako, deputy •Panel may end sitting today

The seven-man panel investigating the Adamawa House of Assembly’s allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Murtala Nyako and his deputy, Mr Bala Ngilari, commenced business sitting in Yola on Friday, with the House tendering 28 exhibits against the governor and his deputy.

The panel, constituted on July 4 by the Chief Judge, Justice Ambrose Mammdi, is sitting at the Federal Secretariat conference room.

Chairman of the panel, Malam Buba Kaigama, who spoke at the venue, apologised for the one week delay in the commencement of sitting.

Kaigama, who attributed the delay to the problem of locating a venue, assured that the panel would be fair and just to all parties involved.

NAN reported that neither Nyako nor his deputy was represented, while the House of Assembly was represented by the Deputy Speaker, Kwamoti Laori.

Counsel to assembly, Mr Duro Ajeleye (SAN), led Mr Wafarninyi Theman (PDP-Hong), the only witness presented by the House in evidence.

Theman, who is the House Standing Committee Chairman on Public Accounts, gave evidence against Ngilari and Nyako.

The counsel tendered 22 exhibits against the governor and six exhibits against the deputy governor.

The panel adjourned till today to enable the governor and his deputy or their representatives to appear before it and present their defence to the allegations leveled against them.
