HUNTERS HELP 30 MORE WOMEN TO ESCAPE FROM BOKO HARAM

HUNTERS HELP 30 MORE WOMEN TO ESCAPE FROM BOKO HARAM

There were indications yesterday that 30 more women may have escaped from the Boko Haram camps in Sambisa Forest, Borno State.

This is coming barely three days after 63 women and children reportedly escaped from the militant group.

According to reports quoting military sources, the escapees were helped by hunters to flee the insurgents’ camps.

A military source stated: “All 32 escapees and the hunters who helped them to escape are currently with the soldiers.”

Although there was no official statement from the military or Borno State government, it was gathered that the escapees were brought to the military camp by the hunters late Tuesday night.

An official of the Government Kashim Shettima government, however, said some of the abducted persons from Kummubza village in Damboa Local Government, who recently escaped from Boko Haram, had re-united with their families.

It will be recalled that 63 women and girls escaped from Boko Haram when the insurgents exchanged gunfire with soldiers.

Director of Defence Information, Major-Gen Chris Olukolade, could not confirm or deny the report as he did not answer his phone or reply a text message sent to him.
