BORNO: JONATHAN'S POSTERS FLOOD MAIDUGUR AS RUMOUR OF FORMER GOVERNOR DUMPING APC THICKENS.

Rumour of former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff dumping APC for PDP has boosted Borno residents’ love for PDP with posters of President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo occupying strategic places within Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Speaking with residents at the post office area in Maiduguri, on Monday, they said the All Progressive Congress, APC, was no longer progressive and that the party was fast becoming a failed party with the calibre of officials elected in its just concluded convention.

Mallam Lawan Goni, who spoke with DailyPost said “the coming of former governor Ali Modu Sheriff, if it is true, it is a good omen for PDP in Borno.

“For 15 years since the return of democracy in Nigeria, the PDP led federal government has not made any impact in the state, no thanks to Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, but everything is now going to work for good, because he has been the crowd puller who always stopped PDP in the state.

“Now that he is thinking or negotiating to dump APC, we are very happy, APC is about dying in Borno State”.

Also Sani Shehu told DailyPost that APC had failed, stressing “I think they have just dug their grave. If Sheriff leaves APC, he is going to fight the party not only in Borno State, but in the whole of northeast, and he will make sure that PDP wins in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, and that means APC will loose the northeast.

“You can see the posters of President Jonathan everywhere now; this is only rumour, when it becomes clear and the former governor storms Borno, it is going to be something else”.

DailyPost also gathered that many APC supporters in Borno State are planning heroic welcome for former Governor Sheriff and they would decamp to PDP with him.

Auwal Ahmed, a stakeholder in the Borno APC told DailyPost that Borno is now PDP with this development and that the signs are there, (pointing at the posters of President Jonathan around the popular post office area in Maiduguri).

“APC is dead and buried in Borno”, he simply said.
